Polk County Fire Rescue adds another ALS Engine to its fleet.
Polk County Fire Rescue started it's 4th ALS engine at our Providence Station 23 in North Lakeland on Monday, April 11th, 2005. Engine 23 is the latest ALS upgrade in a program that started in October of 2003 and proven to be a true life saver.
This unique program is funded by Polk County EMS where the additional incentive pay for the Paramedic and one EMT comes from EMS and the fire portion of the salaries are funded through the fire budget.
The direction to our department was to upgrade 2 Engines per year and we are working hard to keep up with this pace. The next station scheduled for an upgrade is the Indian Lake Estates Station 14 on Highway 60 near the Polk/Osceola county line and this upgrade should be completed this summer.
